In the United States alone, about 110 people are killed by guns each day. New York City alone records 870 gun-related deaths every year. Each year, there are more than 10,300 hate crime committed with firearms in the United States. While it seems that these numbers are shocking, the reality is that every town in America is affected by gun violence. In many cases, politicians and gun lobbyists have been trying too hard to stop the change, which has prevented common-sense solutions.

Everytown's Community Safety Fund

In the next few years, the Community Safety Fund will increase funding for community programs against gun violence by doubling its current level. The community safety fund will provide funding to 100 local organizations that are working to end the epidemic of gun abuse by 2021. In the beginning, the fund will support two types grantmaking: long term support grants that support peer involvement and capacity building; and smaller, sustainer grants. The Everytown Foundation has made the commitment to reduce gun violence in the community to fight the epidemic.

Its 501(c)(3) nonprofit affiliate

Everytown's non-profit affiliate, 501(c),(4), spends money on unrelated expenditures. Their majority of spending goes towards supporting Democratic candidates. In the most recent midterm election the group spent $195769 on Democratic candidate. Everytown received money only five times. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg pledged $50 million for the organization's anti gun campaigns.

Its lobbying costs

Last year, Everytown spent $386,922 on lobbying for gun control initiatives. Of that total, $195,769 went to support Democratic candidates, while $54,247 went to help three Republicans. Most of that money was spent to help the candidates of the Democratic Party, with former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg providing much of the money. These expenditures demonstrate that Everytown not only supports gun control policies but also has a larger agenda that targets violence within America.

Its fundraising efforts

Everytown's fight against gun violence is centered on students. Everytown has partnered to help advocate for gun controls across the United States. Many of these groups are ballot initiative committees funded by Bloomberg. Nevadans are responsible gun owners and Mainers for Responsible Background Checks. Other organizations include: the Oregon Democracy Fund and South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.
