A mentored license for hunting is a type permit that allows someone with more experience to hunt together. In addition to a Wisconsin hunting license, a mentored hunter must possess a valid Wisconsin handgun license and must remain within arm's length of their protege. Additionally, a mentored hunter must follow all applicable Wisconsin hunting laws. A handgun cannot be used for hunting by anyone under the age 18.

Mentored hunters must accompany their mentees while on hunting trips. In addition to being an excellent role model, the mentor must also know the laws governing hunting.
